No doubt, 2017 was a fantastic year for digital technology companies. The likes of Apple, Microsoft, and Samsung made huge leaps and brought innovative products to all consumers. We have compiled this list to include just 5 announcements by major corporations that fueled the tech industry with much fanfare amidst consumers.

Have a look

1. iPhone X

Pronounced iPhone ten and announced on September 12, 2017, the iPhone X has every touch of a typical Apple product. With this unique device, Apple skipped the iPhone 9 to particularly celebrate the tenth anniversary of the iPhone series. The device wasn’t released until November 3, 2017. One of the major selling points of the iPhone X is its ‘hexa-core’ processor together with its several camera tuning features. The absence of the home button, wireless charging, Face ID, Animojis, and more make the iPhone X the most outstanding phone of the year. According to rumours, the phone had been in development since 2012. With iPhone X, Apple showed the world what it believes is the future of mobile technology.

2. Samsung Galaxy Note 8

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 was unveiled to the public on August 23, 2017, and released to the market on September 15, 2017. It was designed to be the successor of the now-discontinued Samsung Galaxy Note 7. The slogan of the event and the device was tagged: Do Bigger Things. And really, you can do bigger things with the 6GB RAM storage on Samsung Galaxy Note 8. One of the things that make the Note series a productive and fun device is that all the devices come with an S Pen stylus which you can use beyond note-taking and swipe. The Note 8 also became the first Samsung device to come with a dual lens camera. This is more than a mobile device; you can really use it in place of a PC when the need arises.

3. Surface Pro (2017)

Five years after the release of the first Surface Pro, Microsoft took a big leap by designing a beautiful Surface device that superseded any tablet before it and many after it. It is unarguably the best Windows tablet of 2017, and arguably the best tablet of 2017. Announced on May 23, 2017, and released to several markets on June 15, 2017, this Surface Pro is the fifth generation of the Surface Pro series. Unlike its predecessors, it has no numeral representation; just Surface Pro. With RAM and ROM capacities up to 16 GB and 1 TB respectively, this is a tablet that can effectively replace your PC. If you want to be more productive in the New Year, here’s a device that can lead you to your goal.

4. iPhone 8

When we say iPhone 8, we mean all the iterations of the iPhone 8. Apple didn’t take a long time between announcement and release – the iPhone 8 and the iPhone X were announced on September 12, 2017. However, the iPhone 8 came to the market first as it was released on September 22, 2017. This officially put an end to the trend of the iPhone 7 and its iteration. With the iPhone 8, you can hold a lot of several files and apps right on your phone with the 256 GB internal storage option. The iPhone 8 retained lots of Apple designs like the Retina HD Display and the home button which is not seen on the iPhone X. The device has gained lots of positive reviews for many reasons such as its glass durability and of course, its camera.

5. Samsung Galaxy S8

The Samsung Galaxy S8 also called Samsung S8, or S8 is Samsung’s flagship device. This is the direct rival to Apple’s iPhone 8. Beyond the rivalry, the S8 really has its own exceptional features that attract all Samsung lovers around the world. After being unveiled on March 29, 2017, the Galaxy S8 effectively succeeded the S7 when it was released on April 21, 2017. In line with Samsung’s aim of doing more, the S8 has a docking station that can be utilised for higher productivity levels. The Galaxy S8 has received praise for its camera optimization and prompt software updates. 6GB of RAM and USB-C connectors make this phone very futuristic. Additionally, it has been acclaimed as one of the best phones for gaming in 2017.
