Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) Review

In December 2017, Samsung announced the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy A8. The device is the latest and sleekest from Samsung. It is designed with noise cancellation using the dedicated mic, and most importantly, it has water resistance capability. This device has an expanded screen that gives the user a large view of whatever is captured. The Galaxy A8 comes with a lot more features that will be revealed as you read on.

Design

The device comes with an aluminium frame, with its exterior made of glass. The screen is a stunning Corning Gorilla Glass that helps protect your device from scratch. This is a device that is designed to resist water penetration. A dust and water-proof smartphone, it can resist water immersion of about 1.5 meters for as long as 30 minutes. This implies that you can take pictures and videos while swimming. In terms of colour, Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) comes in four different colours of choice – black, orchid grey, gold and blue. It has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Display and Resolution

Coming with a 5.6 inch body, the Galaxy A8 (2018) is a great device for those who want to do more than calling and chatting. It is great for reading PDF documents, playing games, and media consumption. Also, you can use this device for note-taking. With a resolution of 1080 x 2220, Samsung keep showing their commitment toward producing high-end phones. Its AMOLED capacitive touchscreen and its ability to produce 16M colours make this one of the best phones you should buy in 2018.

Processor and Performance

This high-performance device comes with Exynos 7885 Octa-core chipset. Its unique CPU is Octa-core (2×2.2 GHz Cortex- A73& 6×1.6 GHz Cortex-A53). The GPU is Mali-G71. The Samsung A8 2018 comes with the 7th Android version – Nougat. This comes as a surprise considering Google has launched a newer version – Android 8.0 Oreo. It’s also a shock as we expected Samsung would incorporate the latest Android OS into this grand device. The device supports a microSD up to 256GB using a dedicated slot. The internal storage, however, is 32/64 GB, and that arrives with a 4 GB RAM.

Camera

Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) comes with dual rear camera – 8MP and 16MP – while the selfie camera comprises 16MP. One of the things we love about the camera is the superb autofocus. The LED flashlight included on both rear and front camera look great both indoors and outdoors. This is a phone built for the real picture lovers.

 Connectivity and Battery

Samsung A8 (2018) supports Bluetooth, WLAN (Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct and hotspot). It comes with a USB Type C 1.0 reversible connector. The battery is a non-removable Li-on 3000 mAh battery. As a top-notch device, it is normal that it supports LTE.

Pricing and Availability

To an extent, the price isn’t fixed. There is every chance that once the device enters the Nigerian market, the starting price will be around N220, 000
